‘Dear Green Place’

A new photo zine by photographer Rachel Lamb in collaboration with hairstylist Rudi Lewis, the first imprint is published by Remember Studio.

Both originating from Glasgow, Lamb and Lewis come together to document this vibrant portfolio of contemporary citizens and young creatives. The project can be seen both as a snapshot portraying the style and character of the current Glaswegian youth generation, an attempt to reflect and renew their own personal relationships to the city through this series of intimate and personal exchanges with the subjects.

Lamb photographs the subjects in their own homes, wearing their own clothes, with their hair styled by Lewis. The spirit of collaboration and connection permeates in every image. As the second publication by Lamb the theme is a similar starting point to her previous book she wants them to both be linked however feel very different aesthetically. As 'Dear Green Place' is more of a snapshot bringing in a more fun playful feeling you can achieve better through a zine format.

The title, ‘Dear Green Place,’ is a nod to Glasgow, with the cover’s green inspired by the Gaelic word ‘Glas’, meaning ‘pale or greyish green’. The first edition will be limited to 200 copies, featuring 40 pages with 51 hand-printed photographs, each including a poster (with 4 to choose from) and a personal poem by Lewis inside.

The zine is available directly email or from Artwords Bookshop and The Photographers Gallery in London.
